Right aileron part prep
TLDR
- Prepped right aileron parts
- Modified dimple die to fit DRDT
Dimple die
I needed to grind a little chunk off of the 4.0mm female dimple die. This is to provide clearance to dimple the aileron ribs.
5 miuntes on the bench grinder, here it is: 4.0 female die grinded
And I finally figured out how to secure the dimple die in DRDT. I used to wrap a tiny bit of tape but it only works for a while. New solution: safety wire. I removed the rubber retainer on the dimple die completely, then wrapped the thinnest safety wire as the new retainer. It fits my DRDT perfectly.
Using safety wire as retainer on the dimple die
I’m so happy I finally solved this issue. It’s the little things in life … :)
Parts prep
I decided to prime the ribs this time, Mainly because the aileron is a moving part, so I wanted to provide a little extra protection to this part.
So after debur clean priming, I dimpled all the top holes on the rib.
And once again, peeling the plastic off the skin drained all my will to build today. I decided to take a break at this point.
