Control Cover on the Tail

Control Cover on the Tail

TLDR

  • Spent 2.5 hours to install the tail control covers

Details

Way back from when I built the vertical stablizer, there are a row of rivnuts on each side of the vertical stablizer.

Today I installed the cover plates going on top of these rivnuts.

As usual, it’s a 10 minute job turning into 2.5 hours because I installed a few too many rivnuts and I have to take them out.

Drilling out rivnuts are super difficult because they always spins with the drill. I spent a lot of time fishing them out with a needle plier and clean up the holes. The holes had to be drilled up to 4.8mm in order to remove the rivnuts, and I replace the old rivnuts with 4.8 mm rivets.
