Oil Lines, Air filter
TLDR
- Tightened all oil lines before oil purge
- WIP install the air filter
Details
Tightened up most oil lines
I tightened the remaining oil lines with exception of the ones that need to be disconnected for oil purge.
- 2 connections on the oil pump,
- The banjo bolt is 17 nm
- 2 connections on the oil filter,
- Oil out from the oil canister
What remain loose so far:
- 2 oil in on the oil canister
- 1 banjo on the oil canister
- It will be 17 nm
Air filter
Pushed the air filter on the turbo fan for test fit. I have the warm clamp just loosely hanging on the filter. I will tighten it once I confirm the air filter is in its final position.
Also installed the 2 air pressure sensor onto the shell on the air filter.
Right now, the angle of the air filter isn’t quite right. the air intake duct doesn’t align with the cowling duct at all. I need to rotate the air filter down by ~20 degrees, but it’s going to have interference to the rubber hose on next to it. I will need to come up with a way to deal with this.
Misc work on the cowling
Exhaust pipe cover
I fitted a shell (cover?) for the exhaust pipe so it’s more aerodynamic. The process is pretty simple. I used some blue painter tape to temporarily secure the cover, then drilled 5 tiny holes for 3/32 rivets. Then I just used a debur tool to aggressively clear the drill holes. The holes are enlarged slightly and also countersunk. Then I shot 2.4mm countersink rivets to attach the cover to the lower cowl permanently.
Exahust pipe clamp
Another thing is that when I mounted the lower cowl I noticed the clamp bolt I installed yesterday on the exhaust touches the lower cowl.
So I removed the nut on the clamp, and flipped the bolt 180 degrees and re-installed it. All is clear.
