Firewall loom sealing bracket

Firewall loom sealing bracket

TLDR

  • Installed the loom sealing bracket on the firewall
  • Zip tied the cables some more

Sealing Brackets

Now that the engine harness are connected, I installed the firewall loom sealing bracket to protect the wire loom, and also block carbon monocide from entering the cockpit.

The bracket comes in 2 parts and goes onto the firewall with 6 M4 rivets. The access is somewhat limited but I’ve gotten used to this at this point.

When test fitting, I realized the bracket doesn’t fully seal the hole. There is quite a big gap all around the wire loom going through the bracket.

So I cut a chunk of the fire sleeve used for the fuel lines and wrapped it around the wire loom as space filler, and tied both sides with zipties. It’s a snuggle fit through the hole without the bracket. Once I install the bracket it will give the loom some more squeezing to close all the gaps.

Cable Ties

While I was working on the sealing bracket behind the cockpit, I decided to put in some more zipties to make the wires more secure. I put a few more zipties to the HIC connectors to make it stay further away from the rubber pedals, and tied off the prop control wires so it doesn’t wobble. I still need to figure out where to put the 2 HIC maintenance port connectors.

I didn’t take any pictures during this process due to the extremely limited space access.
